Inaugural Inspiring Women Fashion Forward event raises over £5k for charity

Travel Weekly’s inaugural Inspiring Women Fashion Forward program has been hailed as a huge success after raising more than £5,500 for charity.

The event, attended by 200 guests, included a pre-loved clothing sale and a catwalk auction featuring more than 350 items donated by women’s industry leaders.

It also included an address by Karen Blackett CBE, director of the British Fashion Council, and Nishma Patel Robb, founder of Glittersphere and former head of travel at Google.

The showcase was hosted by Hyatt at the Andaz London Liverpool Street and was held in collaboration with headline sponsor Intrepid Travel, with proceeds from sales and a raffle going to the operator’s Intrepid Foundation.

Lucy Huxley, editor-in-chief of Travel Weekly, said: “Our Inspiring Women fashion forward event was created to support the circular economy, give young women in the industry the opportunity to build a working wardrobe at a reasonable cost and raise money for a fantastic charity.

“Tonight’s turnout has been phenomenal, and we are incredibly grateful to Karen and Nishma for giving their time, our volunteer salespeople and models, and of course Intrepid Travel, Avis, Hyatt, Iberostar, Newmarket Holidays and Silversea for their support.”
