These Ray‑Ban Meta Wayfarer are honestly the perfect mix of style and tech. They look just like regular Ray‑Ban Wayfarers, so you don’t feel like you’re wearing bulky “gadget glasses,” but they’re packed with smart features.The camera is super convenient for quick photos and videos hands-free, and the audio is surprisingly clear for calls and music without blocking outside noise. Great for walking around, traveling, or just everyday errands. The touch controls are easy to use, and battery life easily lasts most of the day for normal use.Comfort is solid, lenses are crisp, and build quality feels premium. If you want smart glasses that actually look good and work well, these are 100% worth it. I end up wearing them way more than I expected.

This is an update to an update to an update. I’ve officially downgraded these glasses to one star. If the Amazon Gods would only let us use negative values I would be even happier. . After almost 10 days of trying to use these things while on our European vacation, I have to declare them the single most defective, most useless device purchased on Amazon (or anywhere) in a very long time. I normally carry both an iPhone and iPad with me. The software is so kludgy that it never knows where or how to connect. The Ai function does not work at all. Period. No amount of fiddling will make it work. This, in spite of the fact that I’ve tried connecting to the US via a VPN. To make things worse is the fact that you will often, and unknowingly, begin to take either photos or videos. I have some stunning photos of my shoes, the carpet, and the bright blue sky. This all happens as you sit in a lounge chair looking goofy because the LED light, which cannot be disabled, blinks to let people know you seem to prefer a video of your shoes rather than the stunning native scenery. People tend to alternate looking at you as both a pervert and an idiot. Good grief, I can’t wait to send these things back to Amazon. The value of this product should be about $10 and be on the rack in the convention store with the other cheap glasses that are more often stolen than purchased.These glasses are so useless as to be really unbelievable. They will not stay connected to any iOS device. They constantly lose Bluetooth connectivity. It seems the Ai function is not available outside the US as it refuses to work in Europe. The glasses refuse to connect to a European WiFi. Whatever you do. Do NOT believe any of the glowing reviews from the YouTube hucksters who are getting free swag and being paid to tout this product. Take it from me. These glasses are not going to do what you want them to do. Rayban you should be ashamed of lending your good name to a carnival side show barker such as Zuckerberg.So, while everyone is posting somewhat rave reviews, let’s discuss the cons of owning these glasses. I bought these glasses for use both on vacation, as well as an addition to my studio cameras that I use for my Edge Of Innovation channel on YouTube.The software is wonky. Seemingly it will not pair with two iOS devices. For example, you cannot pair the device with both your iPhone and IPad. Once paired there is a goofy, convoluted process to do a full reset of the glasses in order to pair with another device. Speaking of using with an iPad…there is no iPad specific app for the glasses. To use the Meta View app one must use the app as an iPhone app in the enlarged view in the portrait mode. Software this bad from two major companies is simply unacceptable in today’s world.As we all know, there is no love lost between Apple and Meta. This becomes clear when using this device. It is my greatest hope that Apple will create a competing device and Sherlock this device from Meta.I should mention that the only reason this is not a 1-star review is because the glasses themselves are okay as far as actually working as sun glasses.

I’ll be honest—Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses weren’t even on my radar until my daughter gifted them to me for Christmas, and after taking some time to familiarize myself with everything they can do, I’ve genuinely grown to use them almost daily. That’s saying something for a product I never would have bought myself.The 12MP camera captures surprisingly good photos and video for a pair of glasses, and the open-ear speakers deliver clear enough audio for music, calls, and interacting with the AI features without completely blocking out the world around you. The Wayfarer design looks completely normal—nobody around you knows they’re smart glasses, which is a big plus. The Bluetooth connectivity is reliable, pairing is straightforward, and the overall build quality is exactly what you’d expect from Ray-Ban.The one real downside I’ve run into is battery life. Getting roughly 2 hours of use before needing a charge is the main limitation that keeps this from being a 5-star product for me. For longer outings or extended use throughout the day, you’ll want to keep the charging case handy.That said, for a first experience with wearable smart technology, these have been a genuinely pleasant surprise and a gift I’m glad my daughter picked out. If the battery life improves in future generations, this product will be truly hard to beat.

I recently purchased two pairs of Ray-Ban Meta glasses—one with transition lenses and one with polarized lenses—and they’ve been a game changer for my daily life and content creation. Here’s a breakdown of my experience with both pairs and their features:What I Loved• Hands-Free Content Creation: These glasses have made it incredibly easy to record high-quality videos while keeping my hands free. As a content creator, I love giving my audience a first-person view of what I’m doing, and the ease of snapping photos or shooting videos on the go is unmatched.• Stylish and Discreet Design: The Wayfarer style is a timeless classic, and over 99% of people won’t even realize these are smart glasses. I get all the benefits of advanced tech without sacrificing style.• Polarized Lens Quality: The clarity of the polarized lenses is unreal. They block out the sun beautifully, especially in Florida’s intense sunlight, and make driving feel sharper and more vibrant.• Immersive Sound Quality: Listening to music and taking calls without earbuds is an incredible experience. The sound is immersive, theater-like, and subtle enough that people nearby won’t hear it. I even had a crystal-clear call with my dad, and he had no idea I was using glasses for audio!The Cons• Transition Lenses Fall Short Outdoors: While they’re great indoors, the transition lenses don’t adapt quickly enough to the Florida sun and don’t block out glare as effectively as polarized lenses. If you need strong sun protection, go for the polarized option.• “Hey Meta” Feature is a Letdown: This was the biggest disappointment. The voice assistant is unreliable and drains the battery rapidly. For example, when I asked it to delete a video, it looped endlessly without actually doing it. It also struggled with recognizing objects—I asked about a man-made mountain, and it gave me a completely inaccurate answer. I’ve since turned this feature off.• Battery Life with “Hey Meta”: With the assistant on, the battery drained by 10% for a 3-minute video. Turning it off drastically improved performance—only 1% battery drain for the same recording length. If you want the glasses to last all day, keep “Hey Meta” off.• Fit Needed Adjustments: Out of the box, the glasses were slightly heavy and slid down my nose. Adding nose pads resolved the issue and made them much more comfortable for extended wear.Overall ThoughtsThese glasses excel in hands-free convenience, exceptional call quality, and immersive sound, all wrapped in a stylish, discreet design. While the “Hey Meta” feature fell short and the battery life could be better with it enabled, turning it off made a world of difference.If you’re looking for stylish smart glasses that deliver high-quality content creation and audio, I highly recommend these—especially the polarized lenses. So I never have written a review before, but this time it felt necessary:I have wanted these for so long, and at the point of writing this review, I have officially had these in my possession for approximately 1 week & 2 days (9 days total).For the most part they have done everything I got them for spot on. I will list the PROs & CONs below in summary.But my BIG reason for feeling the need to write this review is my disappointment. What is even more disappointing is ChatGPT has been way more helpful to me than asking META/this AI anything regarding any technical difficulties with their OWN brands product (ie. these glasses).📌 To start off, after further investigation/research I completed in description of what I was experiencing, apparently one of the BIGGEST ISSUES I am severely experiencing only just a little over a week into having them, is something called “phantom touching,” where while being connected via my phone, whether I am listening to music, talking to META, watching videos, ect., the touchpad is adjusting volume/performing clicks/being messed with all on its own without me even touching it. It’s pretty much “tweaking out.”I have took suggestions such as force restarting the glasses a few times, thoroughly keeping the apparently hypersensitive touchpad I have on my glasses very cleaned, keeping my hair up and off of it, and I went as far as adjusting the only device control settings for my touchpad that I am allowed to change via the META app itself (I turned off “wear detection” & turned off having any special feature for touch gestures, ect.).⚠️ SIDE NOTE: not to mention, the device settings in general I also am kind of fustrated with in regards to the options available to me in device control customization. I am disappointed with the FEW options I am given when customizing my device settings, mostly in the only 2 options I am given for the customization of my touchpad.➡️ I should absolutely be allowed to turn off touch pad sounds, & as a matter of fact, I feel as if I absolutely should be given the option to turn off the touchpad completely if I really choose to. If I was able to simply do just that, I may not even be here writing this review & would have lived with not using it if it meant I would not have to potentially return the glasses for replacement.Anyways back to my phantom touching:basically I have been trying anything to get this to stop & not have to ultimately try to return/replace them because this was my christmas gift to myself, I’ve wanted them for so freaking long that it’s almost sad lmao. But I’ve exhausted my options.📌 Another issue that came up only just last night and ever since then has become more apparent & keeps me aware of is the glasses are apparently already overheating. I guess I did work them pretty hard maybe when I recorded 3 video captures back to back last night. Video captures btw have a max limit of recording in 3 minute increments. So a total of 9 minutes of footage I guess. Then when I attempted a 4th time after 15-20mins since the 3rd video capture, the glasses META voice had advised that the glasses were too hot and needed to cool down prior to more image/video captures. I immediately touched the side of the glasses because that was news to me, I had not even noticed any overheating coming from the glasses themself as they sat on my own face. Yes they felt warmer than they should have been after becoming aware of it. So I held off on any more stress to the glasses for the rest of the night.Since then though, it was like that first encounter was the “match that lit the flame,” because even after 1 video capture I am now continually getting warnings of overheating happening to the glasses. Sometimes feeling it myself now. But its not even just video captures making them get too hot, it’s adjusting any settings or even so much as speaking with META for a moment too long thats making them get too hot. I’m sure the continuous volume being adjusted by the phantom touching and just the constant phantom touchpad gestures in general aren’t helping the situation.ChatGPT told me that with all detailed evidence of what I am experiencing being considered, it sounds like its just a high possibility my glasses “have a bad thermal sensor” or they are just a “defective unit.”📌 Another big issue I am having is the battery life. Now all things considered, yes I completely understand that these are the 1st generation Rayban META’s & in my experience, I’m aware that battery lifespan of most 1st generation items are never as great as future generations of the product. Yes I was aware of the battery potentially being pretty “mid” upon purchasing these.At first the battery pretty much lasted as expected as long as I did not take constant back to back captures and spread out the usage as they sat on my face. However, since the overheating warning began specifically, they seem to be dying INSANELY fast, like way faster than earlier in that week. Such as between being at I took them out of the case, turned them on, they connected, META stated battery at 100%, I proceeded to immediately open my META app, & mind you I hadn’t so much as spoke or used the glasses yet since putting them on at this point, however within only LITERALLY about a minute of me having the app opened to simply just look at the settings, I look back at the devices battery percentage in the app, and it dropped 3% that quickly.‼️ QUICK BONUS SIDE NOTE: I literally just checked the app to view the device battery percentage just now out of curiosity, as they are sitting on my face still as I type this since that earlier 3% drop case scenario, mind you I have still not been using any functions, especially because I am so focused on typing this, and the battery is already at 83%.Like 😐..I HATE the fact that I actually may have to return these and wait to get a replacement pair because I had already waited so long to even go through with finally obtaining a pair of these. UGH.🔄 So to SUMMARIZE:These glasses were pretty great the first few days of consistent usage, seeing what I could do with them & getting to know them. I still believe that they have the potential to still be amazing, which is why when I may ultimately have to return them, I will definitely be replacing them. None of these issues and/or difficulties became apparent until exactly a week had hit of owning them. But honestly, even as the most affordable on brand META glasses, they are still about $300. & in my own personal opinion, that is still not cheap and for $300, 1st generation or not, they shouldn’t be having so many issues so quickly into owning them. They should be more durable than this for $300 regardless of 1st generation or not, like seriously. Maybe I will have better luck next time because I am still determined to own an actual working pair of these glasses. 💔✅ PROs:- Video quality is A++ in my opinion- Being able to use them like headphones for music & answering phone calls has made me feel like a bada** not gonna lie 😎- The most affordable option for META AI glasses that are out there & name brand- Simple enough to learn in terms of controlling them ect.⚠️ CONs:- Battery life became garbage way too quickly into owning them- Thermal sensor problems/my pair have been overheating- Phantom touching on my touchpad- Not enough options in terms of device touchpad customizations available to be able to change or adjust, because as I stated before, if I want to disable the touchpad completely, I should absolutely have the option to be able to do so, even as little as having the option to turn off the touchpad haptic sounds if I really wanted to.- Disappointed (but still determined to have a working pair of these).‼️ VIDEO DISCLAIMER ‼️I did make edits to this video taken on my META’s using capcut, but only edits I had done to it were that I sped it up to 4.5x (originally it had been a 3 minute video capture) & I also increased the saturation to my liking among other minor brilliance, brightness, sharpness, contrast adjustments I made to my own personal preferences in what aesthetics I like regarding my own media. I want to clarify that the color & quality in its original state is absolutely enough & definitely great quality on its own. I did not make these changes because they needed it or anything like that. 🤞🏼‼️ ABOUT THE ATTACHED SCREENSHOTS ‼️I have added the only views from app in terms of what is given as options in these glasses device customization. Also attached are the only options given to adjust in terms of the touchpad settings as well. & yes, I am literally serious, this is ALL the changes we can actually make when changing any of our device settings.
